Dr. Tomomi Oka worked with the Physician Foundation at California Pacific Medical Center in 2007 and then joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in 2008. He works closely with the Pacific Coast Cardiac & Vascular Surgeons heart team. He performs both cardiac and thoracic surgery. His particular areas of interest are heart failure and aortic surgery.

Dr. Oka attended Keio University in Tokyo, Japan before returning to the United States for his general surgery and critical care training at Brown. Dr. Oka completed his cardiac surgery fellowship at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville. While at UVA, Dr. Oka received additional training which qualifies him under UNOS criteria to perform heart and lung transplantation. Presently, Dr. Oka operates primarily at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco as an important member of the adult heart surgery team and also works with the heart transplant team. He is fluent in Japanese.
