Patient Information
Sequoia Hospital Guest House
For our patients hospitalized far from home, the family often wants to be nearby. For these families, Sequoia Hospital offers a special place on the hospital campus where families can have a room of their own, a comfortable bed, use of a kitchenette and the support of other families who are in a similar situation.
Accommodations for the Guest House are on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority is given to families of inpatients who must travel a distance to be with their loved ones. Please discuss your Guest House needs with us when making your surgery arrangements.
The following rules have been established by Sequoia Hospital to help maintain an open and inviting environment for everyone. All guests should familiarize themselves with this information.
- Guests may stay a maximum of five nights. Due to high demand, it is not possible to guarantee that you will be able to stay in the Guest House as long as your loved one is hospitalized. There may be instances in which the patient's stay may be lengthened. Please call the Sequoia Hospital Community Service Coordinator each day beyond your checkout date if you are requesting an extension of your stay. Please call the Community Service Coordinator if you check out early, as there are always families waiting to use the Guest House.
- Parking is available on the Sequoia Hospital grounds. The lower two levels of the hospital parking lot are the recommended parking areas for Guest House guests.
- If checking in after hours, the Admitting Department will provide you with your room key. Upon departure, please your key to the Community Service Coordinator or drop it in the designated box near the television in the Guest House living room.
- It is your responsibility to keep your room locked and your key with you. Sequoia Hospital keeps a fireproof safe in which you may place your valuable small articles. Sequoia Hospital will not be liable for any lost or stolen articles unless such items have been placed in the hospital safe.
- Housekeeping will clean daily between noon and 3:00pm. Extra linens and supplies are stored in the hall closed and in the garage. A washer, dryer and iron are available for personal use and they are located in the garage.
- There is a telephone in each room. Local calls (from San Mateo to Mountain View) may be made by dialing 9, then the area code, then your calling card number followed by the number you want to call. For emergencies, use the red phone located in the dining area. Patients in the hospital may call directly to the Guest House by dialing 9,then the phone number of your room (found on your registration sheet). Please remember to keep the ringer on low in consideration of others.
- Eating and drinking should be confined to the kitchen. Preparing or storing food in your room could result in the termination of your stay. Each guest is responsible for cleaning their dishes and keeping the kitchen and living area in order. Please mark your food items before putting them in the refrigerator.
- Pets, smoking, illegal drugs, weapons, children under 13, cooking and eating in the rooms are absolutely prohibited. No alcohol consumption is permitted.
These rules are set up for your safety and enjoyment and that of other guests.
If you encounter any problems Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, please call (650) 482-6006. At all other times, call the nursing supervisor at (650) 367-5595 or have him/her paged by the hospital operator.
Your cooperation is much appreciated. We hope you have a comfortable stay while you are at the Guest House.
